Summer Skin

Oh, summer. It's always the season of theoretical relaxation. In reality, it's usually one of the busiest times of year (for me)! Here's just a few photos from the past month or so when I've had some downtime. Silver Beach in Michigan, Navy Pier with my Scottish friends, my brother James' birthday, and July 4th fireworks.

The Little [New] Things

Sometimes, it's the "little things"in life that can perk up your day. In this case, getting some new [reading] glasses did that for me. I know, they're only reading glasses. I haven't had glasses of any kind since I was 7 though, so these were a nice change of pace for me! [Just to clarify: I actually do need them; they're not for looks. ;)]

I've never been great about self-portraits, but my new little glasses inspired me to take a few! They were completely informal and spur-the-moment, but I like the way some of them came out!

Segway Swag

I don't normally put photos up from my phone, but this experience was too hilarious to pass up as a blog post. (True confession: I actually brought my camera with, but realized half-way through the tour that I didn't have a memory card in it. Photographer fail.)

My boyfriend Calum and I went on a segway tour this week. It's probably one of the nerdiest things I will ever do (next to Geocaching), but it was worth it! It was a gorgeous morning to spend cruising the city; sunny, warm, not too busy, and Lake Michigan's water was sky blue!

I hope you will all appreciate the orange helmets....I know I sure do.

I'm really excited for a couple blog posts coming up this next week! Stay tuned!

Morning Light

But blessed was the daylight that
Flooded my heart's windows, and
Cleared the smoke that billows out

It was well worth waking up at 5:30am to appreciate the beauty, stillness, and light that only comes from the morning. There's nothing like it, and it's amazing how evident God's creation is within those quiet times.

Spring.12

Out with the family for a stroll during golden hour. It's amazing when lighting, nature, and creativity work together.

Spring/Summer Playlist

These are some tunes that have been inspiring me, helping me focus, or distracting me with their catchiness lately. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to what's playing while I'm editing in particular, but these songs made the list. :) This is just a fun, somewhat eclectic mix of "spring/summer" (we're kind of in-between seasons right now) music. Hope you enjoy it!

1. Princess of China // Coldplay
2. The Feeling // Ben Rector
3. The Daylight // Andrew Belle
4. Blackbird // Across the Universe Soundtrack
5. Blood // Middle East
6. Haunted // Leagues
7. This Is Not the End // Gungor
8. Mylo Xyloto // Coldplay
9. Hurts Like Heaven // Coldplay
10. This Is What You Do // Bethel Music
11. Small Rebellions // Jars Of Clay
12. United State of Pop 2011 // DJ Earworm

Feel free to download the playlist here.
I always love hearing about new artists/music. Let me know what you've been listening to lately!

Color // Seafoam Green

I must confess, I am addicted to seafoam green right now. Although I tend to be a little blasé with my wardrobe colors (gray, black, tan, white, neutrals), this bold pop has done wonders for me. Now my closet mainly consists of this color, and of course, black, gray, tan, etc. ;) I may or may not have bought several clothing items in this color recently...but what can I say, this shade is subtle, but SO fun. I'm hoping to do a photo series soon incorporating this color! Stay tuned... :)
